I went surfing around all over Hawaii to find a nice place to stay before I came and I have to tell you Abbey Vacation Rentals was the most first class company I dealt with.
I heard about Abbey Vacation Rentals from a blurb I read in a forum about how they only rent condos that have been recently refurbished and updated. I surfed their site and spoke with their customer service and found this to be true. Let me tell you about the customer service, it is outstanding; they dont answer the phone like you are interrupting something, they are very helpful, answering my many questions.
I had seen several comments online about some hotels or agencies being more interested in their bottom line than customer service, even some that seemed to run a bait-and-stitch operation. This is certainly not the case with Abbey. We had purchased a condo for a week, and out of the blue, not 12 hours after our purchase a friend calls us to give us a free place to stay on the big island. Murphys Law, just paid Abbey the night before and this happens. Well I called them back and they were nice enough to refund our money, wonderful. That is a pretty big deal when there is so much competition over there. This tells me that this is an unselfish company that has a heart.
When you travel to Hawaii, you do not completely know what youre getting until you get there. I can tell you from my experience if you go with Abbey Vacation Rentals you will be taken care of. If you listen to the entire message when you call they give you an afterhours contact number for guests with emergencies. First rate operation!!
We arrived at our condo at Kona Nalu, number 105. We have stayed at Kona Nalu before (in a different unit) so pretty much knew what to expect. We love being near the ocean and could hardly wait to open the front door and step onto the lanai to hear, feel, taste, and smell the ocean. The condo was gorgeous, comfortable and well stocked for our stay. It was a fantastic place to call "home" for 11 nights. Dealing with Abbey Vacation Rentals was a pleasure and I would recommend them and would use them again for our vacation rental needs.

We just returned back to Vancouver after two wonderful weeks in KONA, and a terrific condominium that you had arranged for us.
The Villa at Kahulua, was without a doubt, one of the best units that we have ever stayed at. The unit was decorated extremely well, and we were thrilled with all of the amenities that it had to offer.
We can't thank you enough for making this a "special" vacation... forgot to mention, that the location was also outstanding... across from the beach, which we had entertainment daily with the turtles. Close to Kona,, probably 8 minutes at the tops, and also close to the shopping centre, about 5 minutes.
The short walk to the outrigger was also a treat, as we could enjoy a beverage on their huge deck, and watch the turtles below, along with our nightly friend,, a very large eel, than entertained us to no end.
Thank you again, I will certainly spread the word about the fantastic place, I know we left it in as good if not better condition than when we arrived, as it would be a devastation to ruin this paradise... Thank you Mahalo Richard and Delia
Our compliment to the owner and his designer (if used) for their very good taste in selection of furnishings, color complement and for, quality of the decor, especially in Unit 13D. The location was just what we asked for, except it is not easy to find a grocery store in the area. The beach front is very good but was even better within a few miles North at Hapuna and Poaku. The services of the Abbey Vacation Rentals Group were outstanding, what more could we ask for. I speak in behalf of my whole family who feel the same as I do. Thanks for making my homecoming a very happy one.
I guess it must be true that it depends on what unit you're staying in. I've read some good reviews and some bad of the Kona Reef.
We just returned from our vacation and staying in D-22 was awesome. Obviously, the owners take great care of this place. It's a three bedroom unit. We had a group of six and there was plenty of room. The unit was well stocked with plenty of towels, beach towels, cooking untensils, you name it. It was very clean.
We had the ac go out while we were there. A simple phone call to Abbey Vacation Rentals and they had someone out the next day to fix it (placed call on a Sunday Night).
The unit is on the third floor and ocean front. The side also overlooks the pool area.
The grounds were very well maintained. The staff cleaned the bbqs daily. From our lanai, we were able to see the pool guy check the pool and hot tub water daily. Lawns, trees, and shrubs were kept nice and trim. No signs of garbage anywhere.
We would definitely stay there again and wouldn't hesitate to recommend this place to anyone needing a three bedroom condo.
Sure wish we were still there!
We do a lot of traveling and I have to say this is one of the best places we have ever stayed. Not only was the place well-maintained and very clean, Abbey Vacation Rentals is very friendly and caring. I flew over all alone from LA and my family did not get a flight for 2 days. I had never been on the Big Island and was scared to death. I called Abbey Rentals and they were so helpful in getting me calmed down and worked with me even thru the rental car process. I did arrive at the condo and the very next day, they called to check on me to make sure I made it safely. If it wasn't for them, I may have lost my mind. :) This is a wonderful place to stay and we do plan on staying there in the future. Thank You Abbey Rentals and to The Beach Villas for making this trip great. Great location and beautiful sunsets.

My family and I just returned from the Big Island, where we stayed at the Golf Villas. Abbey Vacation Rentals was the property manager. The entire experience was great! Booking online was very easy; we looked at the available properties and made our choice. The unit we stayed in looked exactly like the photos and videos online. I had a few questions before booking and they were very easy to get by phone and very helpful.
The unit was perfect and decorated very nicely, with a granite kitchen, washer/ dryer in the unit, and a built in BBQ on the patio. It was very clean and the furniture was comfortable and new, not left overs the owner dumped in their rental house. There was a huge private loft where my son slept and 2 other bedrooms, all with plasma TVs and cable. We also had high speed internet. They pretty much roll up the sidewalks on the Big Island at 9:30, so having cable and internet was nice for our teenage kids.
A very nice semi-private beach and beach club were a 2 minute drive away (you could walk, too). It was all very easy and the entire family had a great time. Having the extra space meant no one got on anyone's nerves. It was much nicer than booking two rooms at the Mauna Lani like we originally planned on doing. I highly recommend Abbey Vacation Rentals!
We recently returned from the Big Island. We rented a condo in Keauhou through Abbey Vacation Rentals. We were thrilled with the condo as well as Abbey Vacation Rentals. Check them out if you're in the market for a condo on the Big Island.

A year ago my wife and I started looking for a place in Hawaii to celebrate our 40th anniversary. We searched many websites but found Abbey Vacation Rentals website and picked a condominium in Waikoloa on the Big Island called Kolea. We took our daughter, son-in-law and our two grand-children. Choosing was easy due to the virtual tour on the website and everyting was just as advertised, a beautiful condo with great access to and view of the beach. Our 10 days in Hawaii was our best vacation ever and much was due to the spacious and comfortable condominium we had. While we were there we received two calls asking if we were happy with everything and if there was anything Abbey could do for us. We will return in two years to Waikoloa/Kolea and I assure you we will be contacting Abbey Vacation Rentals to book our condo.
Los Angeles, CA
Kolea 7D is heaven on earth. We rented through Abbey Vacation Rentals and stayed June 12-23. With no house being built in front of the villa the view was wonderful. It's a short walk to the pool and beach, of which both we enjoyed. The pictures are great but wait until you get here. It is soooo beautiful. "A-Bay" may not be the best beach on the Big Island, but the Sunsets are, don't miss it from behind the fish ponds, that's where all the famous pictures are taken from. Snorkeling isn't bad there either. We saw lot's of fish and many sea turtles. My 7 year old couldn't get enough of the turtles. Everything is nearby; shopping and restaurants. There were 5 of us; 3 adults and 2 kids. The villas are outstanding with every amenity you can think of, nothing was missing. Abbey Vacation Rentals is located on the island, so if you have any questions or concerns they are right there to help. We had a problem with our outside Viking BBQ and they sent someone right over to fix it. Our family had no complaints except that we had to come back home. Nothing but dreams of Kolea to keep our family going until our next visit to Hawaii. We will definately be back.
We booked Unit 4B through Abbey Vacation Rentals. We had high hopes based on the pictures provided by Abbey Vacation Rentals and they were exceeded.
There's a LOT to do nearby--great shopping, dining, activities, beaches. You really cannot go wrong with this place. Highly recommended!!!
Construction was not an inconvenience at all (we were in bldg. 15), you drive thru it upon entering property, but it's easily passed, and it was not loud or intrusive at all. Pool and bar/grill were really great!! Grounds are about 1/2 way landscaped, and are beautiful. We used Abbey Vacation Rentals, and everything was perfect!
This is the best rental condo we have ever stayed in. Perfect location - great lanai furniture, sunshades- comfortable bed. Upscale finishes. Ceiiling Fans . . He even had buggie boards and snorkel gear. This is an outstanding unit. I would recommend it highly.
We loved everything about our stay at the condo we booked and the support you provided. Our time there was idyllic and exactly what we envisioned. When we return we will book with you.
We had such a wonderful time at Vista Waikoloa. It is well maintained and so comfortable that I spent a great amount of my vacation staying at the lanai. It was my first time visiting Big Island and I really liked it. Next time we visit there, we will definitely rent a condo from you again.
We rented a 3 bedroom condo in Kona through Abbey Rentals and loved it!! We stayed 8 nights and definitely recommend this condo for a family (with children over 4) or singles. Country Club Villas is on a golf course overlooking the ocean in the distance. This particular condo unit had everything a family could or would need. Boogie Boards, Beach accessories; folding chair; and the interior of the condo was just as nice. The kitchen was fully stocked including spices, etc All of the furniture with the exception of maybe the beds looked brand new, oh and the beds were comfy enough. The condo was somewhat smaller then one might expect for a 3 bedroom; 2 bedrooms on the main floor and 1 small bedroom in a loft type area but still nice. Lanai had a great view and even a b-que on the Lanai which we used twice. The only draw back to this condo is we had to drive to the beach; but a SHORT drive. Beach access in Kona is a little difficult anyway. Also this unit is a corner unit and on the top floor so only neighbors were below us and to one side. This is a 4 story building, but the way it is set up you park (close) and then walk up one flight of stairs to the main living area and then within the condo is another flight of steep short steps to the 3rd bedroom. It is one flight of stairs below the parking lot/street access. The website pictures are 100% accurate; Have Fun!!
Have used Abbey twice now (Fairways and Vistas) and everything went smoothly both times. We stayed in building E at the Vistas and faced Kolea. The construction didn't bother us. We even sat on our lanai in the middle of the day and it didn't bother us. I was worried before we got there though so I was relieved. We were there for 8 days in March, lots of clouds but luckily no rain.
We stayed at the Waikoloa Villas. Great time! We booked our condo through Abbey Vacation Rentals. A bit of a leap of faith since we had only corresponded with them via internet and email - but the arrangements worked out very well. Condo was clean and as pictured. Only disappointment was that the condo complex doesn't actually have a tennis court. You can walk across the street to the Marriott and use the one there for $10/hour...but I had thought that this was included. Complex is in a great location - walking distance to the Marriott, Hilton, and Kings Shops. Would definitely recommend as an alternative to a hotel!
Absolutely wonderful. The unit we had was so beautiful my jaw practically dropped open when I unlocked the door. You could tell it and been completely redecorated within the last couple weeks. It was the most comfortable and gorgeous unit we have ever stayed at in all of Hawaii. I was concerned about not being right on the ocean but when I walked into the unit I forgot about that concern altogether.
We never used the pool but it looked small and pleasant. The 5 minute walk to King's Shops was handy. I enjoyed Merrimans for dinner. A-bay is just a 10 minute walk from the condos and we just cut through the Marriott.
The unit we booked was through Abbey Rentals. It was in the I building looking the direction of the ocean. I think the unit above us probably even had a partial ocean view. Our unit was a 2 bedroom.
I would definitely stay here again.
Just returned from a 10 day trip to the Big Island, the last three nights spent at Fairway Villas.....Really nice condos/compound. Clean large, the infinity pool and attached rock hot tub were amazing. Our unit, and most, it's a fairly small compound, were located within walking, or a short 3 minute drive to the King's Shops outdoor mall, which is located right across the lake from the actual condos. I rented through Abbey Vacation Rentals and have only the very best to say about them. The unit was decorated beautifully, stocked with towels, and all the necessities, and Amy, Dan and Sue at Abbey were all very helpful. I'd say these probably aren't ideal for everyone (nothing is right?), no direct ocean view, just great views of the lake and the golf course with palm trees, very nice. But if you rent a Jeep or car, which I highly recommend for the Big Island, you can easily get to several excellent beaches within 10-15 mins of the condo - in addition to A-bay which is again a 5 minute drive. We were in unit N-** by the way, through Abbey Rentals. - Aloha!
Just got back from staying at the Kolea Villas (3 bedroom- 7d rented through Abbey Vacations). These villas are great. I don't think you could go wrong. (Building 1 is by the road somewhat-not sure if others are) The Lanais are great and furnishings are fantastic. We used the Viking gas grill a lot. Pool area is nice but small. Short walk to the beach. The beach here is nice but after staying at Hapuna Beach for 3 nights it was different (I would say not as nice). But my family had no regrets. After a hotel room for 3 nights we had to spread out (which was very easy here). It was nice to have the kitchen. I did not do real cooking but great for grilling, sandwiches, Costco chicken etc.
New York, NY
I hesitated to spend the money. Almost booked early and then decided all the fees seemed too high. Well a month before our trip I cancelled our other condo (half the price) and decided we should splurge. (Check out pictures on abbey vacation web site)
We were glad we did. If you are hesitating you can save a lot- a lot of money by eating at the condo for some meals. The restaurants were high priced and very limited if you didn't drive to Kona.
The construction is going on so check before you book what is happening. A roof was being put on a house not far from our villa but I did not let it bother me (noise was minimal). You should be aware though. Nothing like the jackhammering noise going on at the pool area of the Marriott. That I could not have taken.
Go enjoy yourself and when you are in this beautiful villa enjoying the lanai and doors that open completely to family room and kitchen you will say wow that was great too!
We booked a condo through Abbey Vacation Rentals with the intention of it being the "budget" portion of our honeymoon trip (we'd stayed at the Four Seasons on Maui, so we had to save $ somewhere!). I must say we were pleasantly surprised. The only thing we would have changed is to add air conditioning to the unit. It is a recently renovated two bedroom oceanview condo. Whatever cleaning service is used for the condo did a good job; upon our arrival, the place was very clean. We had no problem with noise from the road or noise from other condos. The condo was spacious and had a TV/VCR (not that we needed that much). The pool area was nice and clean. Overall, we were pleased with the value. We would have paid much more for a hotel and we found the atmosphere here much more relaxing (probably because there were so few people here compared to the hotels). If we return to Hawaii, we will definitely rent a condo again.
Location. Location. Location! Within walking distance to Kailua. In that parking can be a problem we found it easier to simply walk into town for lunch or dinner. Beautifully cared for one bedroom condo, OCEANFRONT. It was wonderful to just sit on the lanai and watch the surfers and the waves roll in. Very nicely appointed kitchen & living room. BBQ area in pool area. IMMACULATE. We rented a car as we were there for nearly two weeks - parking at the property is 'no charge'. It was wonderful to have the laundry facilities inside our condo. My husband and I highly recommend Abbey Vacation Rentals - web site or email.
My family and I love vacationing on the Big Island, enjoying the
natural beauty it offers and the wonderful hospitality of the islanders. We stay at least a week or longer, so we rent a condo in which to relax.
This allows for enough bedrooms and bathrooms for all, along with the convenience of a kitchen. Most recently, we stayed in a beautiful 3 bedroom/2-and-a-half bath Colony Villas unit which we rented from Abbey Vacation Rentals (----). Over the years, we have stayed at many deluxe condominiums in the Waikoloa area. We selected the newer Colony Villas because we like the spacious "townhome" setting and appreciate pools large enough for lap swimming (2 on the property). For those travelers seeking a condominium, I highly recommend the services of Abbey Vacation Rentals, who have been in business since 1998. Gerri and her staff are efficient in answering all your questions about properties available in Kona and Waikoloa. I communicated via email and was always impressed with their immediate replies. The property photos which are posted are accurate. Their rental rates are very competitive with other companies. Abbey gives you simple check-in/ check-out directions; you go directly to your unit without having to stop at a "front desk". I was impressed that Abbey's service did not end just upon booking. During our stay, we had problems with a broken appliance. I contacted Abbey and they brought us a new, working one the next morning. They demonstrated customer service with aloha spirit!
We just returned from a wonderful weekend at the Vistas @ Waikoloa. We've always vacationed at hotel or condo locations which were rated in the 4 or 5 category and each was extremely worth every penny of what we paid for them. On August 18 however, we decided we wanted to try the Vistas @ Waikoloa. We're so glad we did go there cause it was worth much more than we paid for this unit and if we had to compare it, then we would have to rate the Vistas @ Waikoloa with a 5 as all the others we have vacationed at. When we opened the door, what we saw and got was not at all what we expected. This condo was a spacious, 2 bedroom unit, well decorated, extremely clean and so neat. Exactly what I look for in a unit. Besides this, the unit was so comfortable and I just must commend the company who booked this condo, enabling us to have this wonderful weekend. If the care and concern placed on Unit B-201 were not carefully thought out and planned, it would've been perhaps a failed weekend which would have ruined my birthday on August 19. That did not happen and I can only highly compliment the company of ABBEY RENTALS. This condo unit had enough room in it to accommodate at least 7 persons, a very large wrap around lanai with a dining table inside and a very large patio table on the lanai to allow 6 persons to dine outside if they wished. There was a complete microwave, range, huge refrigerator, dishwasher, a very large master bathroom and a secondary bathroom, 2 televisions, very beautiful art on the wall and very neat, clean living room set as though it was brand new. This company thought of everything including CDs for easy listening, movies for entertainment, beach towels for swimming, extra pillows and blankets and even books for reading. All you needed to do was purchase your own groceries. Now, how's about that!! What a great weekend we had and we will definitely use Abbey Rentals again in the future and most certainly will vacation at THE VISTAS @ WAIKOLOA. Best of all, it cost us only $208 plus tax per day. What a bargain for such a beautiful condo unit. Thank you again ABBEY RENTALS. Just wanted to add that this Vistas @ Waikoloa deserves a 4 rating or better.
We just returned from nine wonderful nights at the Villas at Kolea in the Waikoloa Resort area. The furnishings were exquisite, the view outstanding and we felt right at home from the minute we arrived. The covered lanai, complete with outdoor kitchen was huge and we ate several meals there. All bathrooms had walk-in showers. After staying at Kolea, it will be hard to stay in a hotel again.
We stayed in unit K3 back in April 04 and had a great time - booked through Orbitz for $190/nite - 2 bedrm...this was when you had Marriott privileges across the street.
This time we booked directly through owner on vrbo and had unit #N-2 for $160/nite - a great deal! All 2 bedrooms have typical decor, nothing terribly special but very pleasant. We also had TV's in all rooms and DVD/Stereo/VHS in living room and wireless and cable modem access in the master bedroom which was a necessity for me. There is daily maid service - but you HAVE to ask them to clean floors/kitchen if you need that, otherwise it's just towel service and making your beds. My parents/sister came out halfway through our trip and stayed in the 3 bedroom right next door (unit N-1) booked through Abbey Rentals for $285/nite. This unit is PHENOMENAL!!! They did not have maid service and had to wash all towels before they left. So all units will vary depending on who is renting them out. We used the washer/dryer quite a bit having 2 kids with us - very handy. And the A/C in this unit was far superior to any other we have used (3 individual climate controls for the bedrooms and living room and very quiet both inside and outside).
Pool - I love this pool, it is NOT too small and rarely when we were there were there more than 5 other people there. Sometimes there were 10-15 but never did it seem crowded. And I'm a Jacuzzi lover, so that was used quite a bit.
Workout Facility - I don't workout on vacation and most don't, it is basic and was hardly ever used by anyone else.
Location - I think the fairway villas offer the best location BY FAR. (buildings N, M, and K being the absolute best). You have less than a 5 minutes walk to the Kings' Shops, you're on the 9th hole (in units mentioned), great view of lake, 10 minute walk to A-Bay/Marriott. No noticeable construction noise from anything going on around us - which was not the case at the Colony Villas I noticed.
Amenities - There is no longer the affiliation with the Marriot, however, the Marriot is not using wristbands so we had no problem getting towels or using the pool (kiddie sand bottom pool was used by my 3 yr old). The Marriot was fairly quiet with one wing being shut down but the pool area was pleasant when it wasn't blowing like crazy (just 2 of the 7 days we were there).
Overall - When we stayed last year we thought we made the best decision. We did shop around quite a bit this time and still decided to stay at the Fairways. The Vistas, Shores, Bay, and Colony's all didn't just suit our needs and in returning to the Fairways again - I clearly saw that my decision was right. Go play a few holes at sunset - they don't mind. If you are looking for a 2 bedroom under $200 or a 3 bedroom under $300 - this is the place. Get a unit on the 9th hole as suggested! You'll love it. If looking to spend $400-500 - check out the Islands at Mauna Lani or better yet, Kolea @ Waikoloa. Kolea's construction noise wasn't that bad over in buildings 1-3, views just aren't as good.
The interiors are as the ads say, ad's photos show, and the reviews indicate: beautiful, large, well-appointed. The lanais are very large. The bathrooms are large. Honestly, I don't understand how someone would pay 1.5-3M for such a villa and then rent it out for 400 a night, but I'm not complaining.
The beach club is comfortable. The pool is too small for real lap swimming. Kid's pool is fairly small but quite nice. Access to A-Bay is convenient. If all units were occupied I suspect the club would get crowded. Currently, it is mostly empty.
Construction update: Villas: Units 1-7,8,10 are done. 9,11 are getting close (installing trim on many). 13,14,15,16 still have a ways to go.
Houses: Only one lot on the north side has broken ground, it is framed and was being roofed while we were there. All but 3 lots of the west (beach) side have broken ground. Only 1 is finished. Two are still in framing, others are in various stages of interior work. One is for sale ($8M).
We stayed in Building#3, unit B (2nd floor). This currently has a good ocean view. When the rest of the north houses are completed, the view will be diminished considerably.
Over in Building 3, construction noise from the villas was not very noticeable. Just the occasional truck-reverse-beeping. Currently Villas 8,10 probably have a lot more impact since it is right behind them.
From Building 3, the houses weren't a big noise/distraction source. The north-lot one had activity only 2 of 7 days we were there; and from the west-lot ones we only heard the occasional saw-whine or diesel-engine-grunt. Overall, mostly we heard the wind and the ocean.
Currently villas 4-7 probably have more impact from house construction since the main activity is right in front of them.
* According to the sales office all house lots are sold, so all this will change going forward.
* We didn't hear any construction before 8am or after 5pm.
* Note the Naupaka development (all homes) is being prepared to the north (between the Hilton and Kolea). When those houses are built, the views from 1-3 will decrease some more.
Currently: Building 3, 2nd & 3rd floors (no villa impact, minimal house impact)
Long-term: 3rd floor units and buildings 4,5,6,7 (2nd tier: 8,10,12).
If you want a touch of casual elegance this is the place. The price is right and so is the ambiance. The Vistas at Waikoloa are one of the nicest retreats we have stayed at on the Big Island. They are completely private, beautifully built and conveniently located in a resort that literally has everything you need within walking distance. We come back here year after year for the last 5 years. We like the A building or B Buildings the best. We stay at the Vistas for 30 days each November/December and have never been disappointed. Little Waikoloa Beach resort is growing but so is the entire Island. It is still the sleepy little slice of paradise we have grown to love.
We were happy with our choice of the Vistas. We faced the finishing touches of some Kolea construction and we weren't affected by it what so ever. Large units, large lanais and within easy walking distance to Kings Shops and A Bay. We were in building E and could see A Bay in the distance. Pool was a nice salt water pool that was kept at a good temperature. Also had 2 hot tubs. BBQ's were good and didn't take for ever to warm up.
We would stay here again. Rented through Abbey Vacation Rentals.
My husband and I just returned from the beautiful Kolea Villas located in Waikoloa Village. We stayed in unit 2B (name is Was- 2nd floor condo) and it was absolutely breathtaking! We can not wait to go back. We can not say enough about our condo. Our condo was amazing...from the beautiful decor, the picturesque ocean view from the lanai, the amenities on the resort such as the pool, hot tub, and beach access. The resort is clean, safe with security, and very well kept. During our stay we enjoyed dining at The Big Island Steak House in the King Shops in Waikoloa Village, Donatoni's at the Hilton Resort, Bubbba Gump's Shrimp Co. and Jameson's by the Sea both located in Kona on Alii Dr. We also enjoyed Dan Sweeney's Whale Watching Tour, visiting the beautiful Akaka Falls on our drive to Hilo, snorkeling on our resorts beach, and shopping in Kona on Alii Dr. This will be a place that we will always remember and will be returning to in the near future.
#2 is right on the ocean with a small black sand beach 15 feet from your back door. With turtles occasionally visiting and wonderful sunsets, you can't beat the location. Just right for us. Nice tennis courts, pool and privacy. Close to Kona. Kept up very well. Thanks for a wonderful stay!
If ocean is calm, you have fantastic snorkeling right out your lanai. Owners very easy to communicate with. Thanks Al and Lyn
Just came back from ten glorious days on The Big Island. We stayed at the Fairway Villas in Waikoloa. Booked the trip through Abbey Vacation Rentals. They were great. We had two minor problems when we arrived, but these were fixed within 24 hours. Our unit was on the third floor and overlooked the pool and the Waikoloa lagoon. Beautiful lanai to have breakfast and dinner. The rest of the time we were on a golf course. Good location and very quiet. Would definitely use Abbey Vacation Rental again.
We found this wonderful condo while hunting for a new place to rent after a very disappointing experience the prior year. It is wonderful. Large, clean, well decorated and comfortable. It's a second story unit in a gate guarded community. It is right on the ocean so you hear the waves at night and the sunsets are spectacular. The kitchen is equipped with everything - and maybe more - then you have in your own home. There is tennis (of course) a wonderful pool and BBQ's for those nights you are just to tired from the days activities to go out. The unit does not have air conditioning but with the ceiling fans and the wonderful ocean breeze that amenity was not missed. We have spent considerably more for far less in the Maui Lani area and are now totally sold on this for our next vacation...and the one after that.... Also, Abbey Vacation Rentals were professional to work with - all in all on a scale of 1 - 10 I would give the overall experience a 10.
Our family of four, including two pre-teens, thoroughly enjoyed the spacious and well appointed accommodations provided by Abbey Vacation Rentals at the Vista Waikoloa Resort on the big island of Hawaii. We stayed in unit ___ for a week in May 2006. The unit itself was extremely clean and well supplied with amenities on our arrival. The view from the multi-balcony lanai was spectacular with a view of the ocean and facing West for fabulous sunsets every night. The property was well managed with on site swimming pool and barbeque grills. We frequently made the short walk to the beach at Anaeho'omalu Bay to swim with the tropical fish and sea turtles or relax on the sandy beach. The property is within walking distance of the King's Shops, several excellent restaurants, ancient petroglyph, excellent golf as well as the Hilton and Outrigger resorts. The Bay is approx 20 mins North of the Kona airport and 30 mins North of Kailua-Kona. We enjoyed several of the best beaches in the world all within 30 mins drive of the condo including Hapuna Beach and the beach at the Mauna Kea resort. Activities on the island speak for themselves but it is so much nicer when you also have such a wonderful place to stay!

Our family of 6 stayed in a 3 BR unit at the Kahaluu Beach Villas in Keauhou, south of Kona, Hawaii. We wanted this location because of the fabulous snorkeling at Kahaluu Beach, a popular public beach across the street. The condo was luxuriously appointed with flat screen TVs, high thread-count sheets, tile bathrooms-- beautiful throughout. The condo was very spacious but the property itself is refreshingly small (under 10 units?) with a private infinity pool, outdoor spa and stainless steel grill. This outdoor area felt all our own even during a busy tourist season. The rental arrangements are handled through Abbey Condominiums at konarentals.net. The people at Abbey were incredibly friendly and helpful. Our whole family wished we had more time to spend a Kahaluu Beach Villas, swimming with turtles and puffer fish and enjoying the condo and infinity pool.

Our stay at Kolea((--)) was everything we hoped for and more! The condo was beautifully cleaned and prepared for our arrival.
the facilities were superb. Very family friendly! "A bay" is breathtaking. Sunsets to make you weep! There were opportunities to snorkel and kayak at the beach as well as the beautiful infinity pool to relax by. Trails with petroglyph carvings, sea turtles, geckos, birds and fragrant flowers everywhere! We found everything we needed (except a corkscrew, which we purchased and left behind for future wine drinking vacationers!)
I have shown the Kolea website to just about anyone who would give me the time of day, both relatives and co-workers. If they are going to the Kona side of the Island, I tell them there is nowhere else they should even consider staying!
We booked through Abbey Vacation Rentals. They were wonderful!. They provided us with lots of good information about the area and excellent super easy check in process! - an outstanding group of people to work with!)
We rented a 3 bedroom condo in Kona through Abbey Rentals and loved it!! We stayed 8 nights and definitely recommend this condo for a family (with children over 4) or singles. Country Club Villas is on a Golf Course overlooking the ocean in the distance. This complex is fairly big so this review in no way speaks to the other condos in the complex as I believe they are all rented differently and through different management companies. In any case this particular condo unit # XXX had everything a family could or would need. This is a 4 story building, but the way #XXX is setup you park (close) and then walk up one flight of stairs to the main living area and then within the condo is another flight of steep short steps to the 3rd bedroom. Unit XXX is one flight of stairs below the parking lot/street access and XXX is the unit directly even with the street access. http://www.konarentals.net/ The website pictures are 100% accurate; Have Fun!!

KOLEA Unit __....ABSOLUTELY AWESOME UNIT!! Our 5 day short vacation was just wonderful thanks the great agents of Abbey Vacation Rentals. From day 1, we were welcomed to our unit with a beautiful bouquet as we got off of our elevator. How often does this happen to visitors to a unit by your vacationing agent? We stayed on the second floor in unit 12B and this unit was so outstanding. Three spacious bedrooms, walking showers, no shortage of bathrooms, extremely beautiful furniture with a very large Vizio Plasma television, DVD center,a kitchen with all the space in the world to complete your cooking and an extra spacious lanai to relax, watch the sunset, take in all the great sunny weather and to top that off, a grill to use at your hearts delight. What else could you possibly ask for? Well, here comes more, a private elevator to your unit, security on premises allowing only those who should be there, a Jacuzzi, an infinity swimming pool...awesome,wonderful, beautiful Kolea!! Our group of 6 had a SUPER time and my husband and I, will certainly visit the Kolea again, request the excellent services of Abbey Vacation Rentals and thank you Mr.. Bryman for allowing us the use of your beautiful unit- ___. By the way, you don't have to be from the mainland to enjoy the Kolea. We're from right here on the Big Island of Hawaii. In other words, it's affordable for a three bedroom unit with all the amenities and more than you could possibly get from a hotel and a unit that is extremely spacious than you could ever imagine whether you're a local from the islands or a mainlander. Absolutely, the BEST!! You will never regret choosing the Kolea units and the noise, well, some close to the buildings being worked on may have justification for their complaints but it isn't all that bad. All you need to do is concentrate on the beauty surrounding you in our islands, the friendliness of the people and just trying to make the best of your vacation instead of looking for the imperfections.
